Shawn Patrick Tilling
Shon started his career as a lead artist on several Emmy nominated VFX productions before first becoming the Visual Effects Project Supervisor for the Vancouver Film School, supervising multi award winning student productions showcased at festivals around the world, and leading to placement in such esteemed companies such as ILM, Weta, Framestore CFC, and Rhythm and Hues. He then went on to be a Director/CG Supervisor for short film, TV, commercials and film projects for a multitude of high profile clients such as Disney, Dreamworks, MGM, and Mitsui Sumitomo as well as producing/directing international acclaimed animated short films for Tama & Co. His independent work been invited to show at festivals such as the Virtuosity Festival in Torino Italy and the prestigious Prixars, as well as profiled in magazines, museums and universities around the world.
Over the last eight years Shon has been acting as the Head of Department for the Shanghai Vancouver Film School, developing the next generation of international animators. He has also worked closely with industry, acting as Cinematographer as well as an Animation Director for the Shanghai Media Group on a number of productions. He has also been invited to judge and give masterclasses at the Shanghai International Film Festival, The CIAF as well as the Golden Dragon Animation Festival in Guangzhou and to guest speak at a variety of universities across China. He has also supported the local community by being a spokesperson for fire safety for the Shanghai Fire Department as well as creating animated content about traffic safety for children for the Shanghai Police Department.
Shon truly loves animation, and its ability to express, educate and entertain. He inspires and is inspired by the people around him to be the best they can be, to create wonderful animation and visual effects and to grow and develop the industry to be the best in the world, wherever he may be.
